Dr Anita Sharma - MBBS FRACGP

Dr Anita Sharma is the Practice Principal at Platinum Medical Centre and has been practicing as a GP for over 25 years here in Australia. During her time overseas before moving to Australia she has worked in South Pacific countries and the Middle East where she managed emergency departments, developed emergency medicine protocols and supervised junior doctors. She is an accredited supervisor for first- and second-year registrars (GPTQ)and medical students from University of Queensland and Griffith University. She is a member of National Faculty of Specific Interests (NFSI) RACGP –for Diabetes and Obesity, co- author of the RACGP General Practice Management of type 2 Diabetes handbook, member of the Education Committee of the RACGP, Advisory Board member for REED education and member, State Advisory Committee (SAC) Queensland for Medical Defence Australia (MDA National).

Dr Sharma’s professional interests include education of GPs registrars, medical students and fellow GPs, development of education modules in Diabetes, COPD, Heart Failure, Atrial Fibrillation, Osteoporosis, COPD and Weight Loss, and presenting medico-legal workshops. She is clinical lead for Geriatric Active Learning Modules that focus on Osteoporosis and Frailty. She also contributes to the RACGP CHECK PROGRAM and co -authors articles in cardio-metabolic medicine in topics like Primary Care Management of Type 2 Diabetes, Heart Failure and PCOS.

Dr Sharma is a member of steering committees for Diabetes, Heart Failure , Atrial Fibrillation and Osteoporosis and has written online modules on various aspects of management of Heart Failure for the Asia, Middle East and African Council (AMAC) in 2018.

Dr Sharma is a Designated Aviation Medical Examiner for CASA, Medical Review Officer for CASA, Member of Australian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine and Australian Institute of Integrative Medicine. She is member of the Australian and New Zealand Obesity Society (ANZOS), and member of Queensland Medical Women’s Society (QMWS) and Queensland representative for Australian Federation of Medical Women (AFMW).
