Dr Anita Sharma Specialist General Practitioner, MBBS, FRACGP

As practice principal at Platinum Medical Centre, Dr Sharma has spent over 24 years building trusted, multi-generational relationships with patients and families, practising medicine that is thorough, empathetic and grounded in the best available evidence. Her clinical interests span cardio-renal-metabolic health, complex chronic disease, obesity medicine, women's health across the lifespan, paediatrics and preventive care. She has expertise in managing weight loss, diabetes, osteoporosis, asthma, COPD, Ischaemic heart disease, Heart Failure,Lipid Disorders, antenatal care for pregnant women, menopause counselling, and management of endometriosis, PMOS ( formerly PCOS) and mental health issues.

Beyond the clinic, Dr Sharma is a National Medical Educator and Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland, a member of the RACGP Education Committee, and co-author of the RACGP Handbook for Management of Type 2 Diabetes in Primary Care. She is member of Specific Interest Group( SIG), RACGP for Diabetes and Obesity. She serves on the Editorial Board of Medicine Today and chairs and speaks at medical education events across Australia and internationally.

Dr Sharma is a designated Aviation Medical Examiner and Medical Review Officer for CASA, and a member of the Australian Institute of Integrative Medicine (AIMA) and the Australian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (ACNEM), offering an integrative approach that combines evidence based medicine with complementary therapies where appropriate.

Dr Sharma’s hobbies include music, travel and reading.
