Dr Anita Sharma MBBS FRACGP

Dr Anita Sharma is the Medical Director and Founder of Platinum Medical Centre, a multidisciplinary, holistic family practice established in 1999. The practice provides comprehensive healthcare for the whole family, with a strong focus on personalised, patient-centred care.

Dr Sharma and her team are committed to delivering evidence-based, contemporary medical care combined with lifestyle support to promote optimal physical and mental wellbeing. One of her key areas of interest is obesity management and weight-related health conditions. To address this growing health challenge, she has established the Platinum Metabolic Weight Loss Clinic (PMWLC), which supports patients living with obesity and associated medical conditions. The clinic recognises the multifactorial nature of obesity, including both genetic and environmental influences, and provides highly personalised, medically supervised treatment, together with the medical and psychological support needed to achieve meaningful and sustainable weight loss.

Dr Sharma is passionate about preventive medicine and cardiometabolic health, including the management of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and chronic kidney disease. Her clinical interests also extend to osteoporosis and women's health, with particular expertise in conditions such as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, and menopause management.

A highly respected educator, Dr Sharma has trained more than 1,500 doctors across Australia in insulin initiation and intensification and over 800 doctors in osteoporosis management through practical workshops and active-learning programs developed from her extensive clinical expertise.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr Sharma is a dedicated teacher and national medical educator. She serves on the Education Committee of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and is a supervisor for GP registrars and medical students.

Dr Sharma is also an Editor and Reviewer for Medicine Today, an independent, peer-reviewed journal for Australian general practitioners, specialists, and other healthcare professionals. She is a co-author of the RACGP Handbook for the Management of Type 2 Diabetes in General Practice and is a faculty member of the RACGP National Faculty of Specific Interests (NFSI) for both Diabetes and Obesity. She regularly contributes to medical journals and educational publications in Australia and internationally.

In the aviation sector, Dr Sharma is a certified Aviation Medical Examiner and an accredited Medical Review Officer, conducting drug and alcohol assessments for aviation personnel and ground crew.

Dr Sharma is an active member of the Queensland Medical Women's Society (QMWS), the Queensland Representative to the Australian Federation of Medical Women (AFMW), and a member of Doctors' Health Queensland (DHQ). Through these roles, she actively champions the professional development, leadership, and wellbeing of women in medicine.
